So I made another video essay. This time it is about why I believe that video games do not cause violence.
- What was your interest and/or motivation for making this video?
I originally didn’t have any interest in this video. I originally did it for the assignment credit. As for the topic of ‘video games not causing violence’, this was a left over prompt I kept from summer school. Since I was somewhat pressed for time, I decided to go along with that topic whether I liked it or not.
- What was the most interesting or challenging element of your video for viewers?
For viewers, I imagine it would be my explanation. I didn’t really bother with much of a script so my speech was all over the place in terms of topic and grammar. Plus, mine was a sloppy slap together that I made on a rush so I imagine that my argument would have a lot of holes in them. Finding the write sort of materials for my video essay argument was definitely my greatest challenge.
- What was the most challenging aspect of your video for you?
My most challenging part was definitely the research to support my thesis. When I went online, I found a lot of controversy with different views on whether or not video games cause violence. For example, Time Magazine did a study and provided a rough summary of their results. Their results worked against me so I still have no idea as to why I bothered including it in my video. A lot of the websites I researched provided a rough summary of their own opinion. In the end, I went with copy pasting video clips and images onto parts of my video. Plus, there were some that I really wanted to include but couldn’t due to some technical issues.
- Is there anything you left out of this video, for time or other reasons, that could have made it even stronger? How so?
It is not as if I intended to leave out stuff. I believe that I left out a ton of information that I did not think of at the time. I just went with whatever my head absorbed during the making of my video. Plus, I feel like I relied too much on my copy-paste video clips to argue for me that I may or may not have forgotten some information I wished to include originally.
- What was the most helpful insight you gleaned from the feedback on your Rough Cut?
I never received feedback on my rough cut.
- Will you share this video with others (family, friends, etc.)? Why or why not?
No. Because I have no reason to do so. Plus… I may or may suspect that they might get offended from my argument.
