When I made this video essay, I a vague idea of how it will turn out. My main idea was for a sort of talk show like news channel or something of the sort. Because this was a video essay, I mostly focused on the essay part of the video. Mine being how ‘colonization isn’t always a good thing’. I mostly focused on getting clips to help the audience visualize the idea I was going for with the explanation. With the N!AI and Pocahontas clips, I used as a sort of evidence to help the audience get the idea behind it. I did happen to run into a few problems along the way. One of the problems I ran into is that I am a new creator with low base and viewers on both YouTube and Vimeo. With vimeo, I had the trouble of not having enough data in my plan to support my video. As a result, I gave up on vimeo and focused on YouTube. With YouTube, I needed to follow a certain set of guidelines. One of the being the video length. I cannot make my video run for more than fifteen minutes. This cut the length of my video to require me to be as brief as possible. There are other problems I ran into but where quickly resolved thanks to my in-class discussions with the professor. This is how my video essay went down.
