About

I am Isaac Sivapon. I am just a simple college student studying for a media major. And this is just me writing about my ‘About’ page.

  • What media (technologies/genres and individual shows, movies, games, books, etc.) did you love as a kid?

As a child I was all about cartoons and anime. My household was rather strict about what I interact due to their worrying over my development (totally failed). Because of that, Marvel and DC were practically banned for me. I also wasn’t allowed to have my first game console till I was 17. I didn’t even get my own cell phone till after I graduated high school. As expected, at that time, I had to be extremely cautious about when and what I watch. Honestly, most of my TV time happened after midnight where I would sneak downstairs to watch Toonami random re-run episodes. I would watch shows like Gurren Lagan, Samurai Jack, or One Piece. At that time, mostly Japanese anime was played so my main interests were mainly with Japanese media. Naturally I came to love it and be raised by it, which angered my parents even more. As a result, they signed me up with classes like piano or a college preparation classes. Naturally, my media became an escape for me over the years.

  • Why are you interested in this class and how do you think it might help you in the future?

As already stated, I am studying for a media major. Naturally this current writing is for a media class. Honestly, my thought process over choosing the ‘Elements of Media Making’ summer course was extremely simple. It is no exaggeration to say I was all like “Hey! Media Class! I like Media Class! I think I’ll take the course!” or something like that.

  • “Essential” media: three specific media texts or artifacts that have influenced you in a significant way – things you would consider “essential” if someone were getting to know you.  For each text, you may wish to include descriptions, images, links, or other media to help your reader understand why you consider that text essential, but be sure to include links to:
    • their Wikipedia entries (if they exist) and
    • at least one other page or site about them (official page, fan sites, episode guides, walkthrough pages, etc.).

Anything related to Japanese Anime counts as my biggest and most significant impact towards media.
