I am sure that there is a great many of us that have no idea what this title is. Well even I had no idea about what that is. Therefore, I will take the opportunity to explain to you about what this is.

The pictures are ones taken during the Senor de Tlaxcala festival. It is a festival celebrating the life of a man who went by the name of Tlaxcala. But why are we celebrating the long past life of this man? What did he accomplish to get an annual celebration lasting for over three hundred years? Well, this man is the founder of a small town in Mexico called Bustamante. To even begin to comprehend this festival, an examination of history is necessary.

According to Bustamante locals and actual witnesses, Viva Señor de Tlaxcala is a festival that occurs every year during the first week of August. The party can also only be experienced at night when the sun goes down. During that period of time, street carts and stands are set up and the party is open to all. The entire center of Bustamante is swept up in a festival mood. Hundreds of tourists even come down to Bustamante just to witness this fantastic annual event.

Although the night life during festival hours are the main and fun part, the most important detail is not the night but what happens before that. Right before the festival night can begin, one can go to the town square and notice a large church mass occurring. There, the townspeople would gather with friends, family, and neighbors for the sake of this event. People would parade and sing songs to celebrate the glory of their religion. As one would expect, this festival is a religious festival.

The purpose of the festival is to celebrate the founding of the town of Bustamante. But how did the town of Bustamante get established or founded exactly? Why is there a festival for this?

According to local sources, the town of Bustamante is small now as it was in the past. But what changed in Bustamante was the coming of Jesus Christ who visited the town of Bustamante. Don’t get me wrong here. Jesus Christ himself did not visit the town but the religion and the statue visited in actuality. They brought the statue in a church and would plan to travel with it again when they were done.

Apparently, travelers from down south visited the town to spread religion in which they succeeded. They did succeed in spreading religion but it didn’t end there. Apparently, Jesus Christ refused to leave. Supposedly, the size of the door changed causing the statue to remain were it was and would continue to remain to this day and so on. Thus, the town of Bustamante was founded.

The remaining pictures below are those I had no idea what to do with. But enjoy.
